Welcome to ELY CITY HOCKEY CLUB

Established in 1965 and based at the Ely Outdoor Sports Association on the outskirts of the city, Ely City Hockey Club draws players from across The Fens.

At Ely we pride ourselves on being a friendly but lively club actively promoting and developing hockey amongst all sections of the community.

So whether you are an experienced hockey player, a novice, but keen to improve, just want the occasional game, or have never ever played before, but fancy giving hockey a go - we can accommodate you!

We are also very proud of our thriving Youth Section and coach and support 40 or so youngsters on a regular basis - many of whom successfully progress through to county, senior, national and, occasionally, even international level. We work closely with all the local schools to promote hockey at youth level across our local region. Annually we host an inter-schools tournament at our home site where many locals schools compete.

Zone Hockey Sessions

Get into the zone...

Adults and children with learning difficulties in East Cambridgeshire are invited to free Zone Hockey sessions with Ely Hockey Club.

Qualified hockey coaches will be taking the sessions starting on the 12th May between 6pm and 7pm at the Ely Hockey Club on Downham Road.

There will initially be four sessions on Monday evenings taking place on 12th and 19th May and again after the bank holiday weekend on 2nd and 9th June, and sessions will be free.

The Roger Brummitt Mixed Tournament - Peterborough

Ely and Market Deeping drinking together?.....whatever next....

The Ely Mixed XI travelled to Peterborough this weekend for the annual Roger Brummitt memorial tournament. A different format this year meant that on Sunday the teams split into a cup league and a plate league depending on the results from Saturday. Ely results were as follows:

Ely 2 - Blue-Green Zeds 0 (Ed Hugo, Tim Reynolds)
Ely 2 - March 0 (Tommy Hugo, Jo Rayner)
Ely 0 - Jurrassic Beavers 3

Sunday (The Cup!!)
Ely 1 - Market Deeping 4 (Tommy Hugo)
Ely 0 - Rebels 3
Ely 0 - GPO 1

The Ely team spent the Saturday night drinking with members of the Blue-Green Zeds and shock-horror...Market Deeping! Late in the night the team demonstrated some amazing dance moves led by Ely Hockey Club 'official' dancer Ali Chapman...tables, chairs and pool tables were all used to good effect. A special shameful mention for Ely player Chris Purlant who spent the whole tournament playing for Deeping.
